Isla Mujeres is just a 20 minute ferry boat ride from Cancun. Here you’ll find the perfect vacation place for all ages. The island is only 5 miles long and ½ mile wide (see map). In the colorful downtown area you will find a variety of restaurants and cafes, folk art and crafts shops and community events such as folklore dances in the public square. You can rent a bike, moped or golf cart to explore the island, visit the turtle farm and stroll through Garrafon National Park where the Mayan Moon Goddess had her sacred temple. Other activities include yoga classes, scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, deep sea fishing and leisure boating. You can also swim with the dolphins, visit a bird sanctuary on nearby Isla Contoy, get a relaxing massage or do what most people come to the island to do -- enjoy the exquisite white sand beaches.
